Voice prompting Claude Code from your Apple Watch
Short answer: click into your Claude Code terminal on the Mac, raise your wrist and say “Send with SayWire” followed by your prompt. SayWire pastes the text at your cursor in one to two seconds, so you can prompt your agent while you walk around, stretch or wait for coffee.
Why speak your prompts?
Good prompts for coding agents are long. You explain the goal, the constraints and what you already tried. Most people speak three times faster than they type, and speaking away from the keyboard helps you think.
Setup in two minutes
- Install SayWire on iPhone and Apple Watch, and the Mac app from the download page.
- Pair them by scanning the code shown in the Mac app.
- In SayWire on the Mac, open Settings and choose Copy and paste into the active app. macOS asks for Accessibility permission the first time; this is what lets SayWire press Command V for you.
- Click into your terminal running Claude Code (or Cursor, or Codex).
Prompting from your wrist
- Siri: raise your wrist, say “Send with SayWire”, then your prompt.
- One tap: tap the SayWire complication and dictate.
- From the Mac: press Control, Option, Command and D to ask your Watch to start dictation, tap once on the Watch, and speak.
Good to know
- Claude Code also has its own
/voicemode for when you are sitting at the Mac with a microphone. SayWire is for when your wrist is closer than your laptop. - Apple dictation is private and on-device, but it can stumble on unusual technical words. Say file names slowly, or paste them from the clipboard afterwards.
- SayWire works on café Wi-Fi through its end-to-end encrypted relay.
